Prize Winners 2005
Long Xuan Le won The MPW Outstanding Achievement
Award. He joined MPW from Viet Nam for our two-year A
level course in Accounting, Economics, Maths and
Further Maths, gaining grades AAAA, including Maths at
the end of his first year. He won a place to read Economics
and Management at St.Hugh’s College, Oxford.
Flora Cameron and Blaise Fermor-Hesketh shared
The Huw Thomas Prize for the best overall performance
in A level Arts subjects.
Flora transferred to MPW from
Sherborne School for Girls at the end of Year 12. She
then took A levels in Art History, English and Religious
Studies, achieving grades AAA and won a place to read
English at The University of Leeds.
Blaise joined MPW
from Uppingham School for our two-year GCSE
programme before progressing to A levels in Ancient
History, English and History. He achieved grades AAA
and won a place to read Classics at UCL.
Grace Reynolds won The MPW Prize for the best overall
performance in A level Science and Social Science
subjects. She joined MPW from St George’s School,
Ascot for our one-year GCSE programme, before
progressing to A levels in Biology, Economics and
History, in which she achieved grades AAA. Following a
Gap Year she plans to read History at university.
Katie Noble and Edmund Grouse shared The Denise
Callahan Prize for the best performance by a first-time A
level student in Arts subjects.
Katie joined MPW from
Heathfield School for our one-year GCSE programme
before progressing to A levels in Art, English Literature
and Media Studies, in which she achieved grades AAA,
including maximum marks in three Media Studies units.
She won a place to read Journalism at the University of
the Arts.
Edmund transferred to MPW from the London
Oratory School at the end of Year 12. He then took A
levels in Latin, History, Greek and French, including Greek
from scratch, achieving grades AAAB and winning a
place to read Classics at Queen’s College, Cambridge.
Duncan Giles and Omar Ashour shared The Winifred
Durnford Prize for the best performance by a first-time A
level student in Science subjects.
Duncan joined MPW
from Hampton School for our two-year A level course.
He achieved grades AAA in Physics, Mathematics and
Religious Studies, including Mathematics from scratch in
one year, and won a place to read Physics and Philosophy
at The University of Nottingham.
Omar joined MPW from
Saudi Arabia for our one-year GCSE course before
progressing to A levels in Biology, Chemistry and
Sociology, in which he achieved grades AAA, winning a
place to read Medicine at The University of Dundee.
Gayathri Gunawardena won The MPW Prize for the
best improvement in A level Arts subjects. She joined
MPW from Sutton High School, where she had achieved
grades BBB in English, Economics and History. She
retook all three subjects, including English in January,
gaining grades AAA and winning a place to read Law at
The University of Southampton.
Victoria Muir and Brian Ho shared The Martin Dyson
Prize for the best improvement in A Level Science
subjects.
Victoria joined MPW from Goldophin and
Latymer School, where she had achieved grades BBC in
A level Biology, German and Chemistry. She did one-term
retakes in Biology and Chemistry and added Psychology
as a new subject over one year. She achieved grades
AAA, including maximum scores in two of the three A2
Psychology units, and won a place to read Biomedical
Sciences at King’s College, London.
Brian joined MPW
from Epsom College, where he had achieved grades
BCD in Biology, Mathematics and Chemistry. He retook
Biology and Mathematics in January and Chemistry in
June, gaining grades AAA and winning a place to read
Dentistry at the University of Hong Kong.
Kishen Morarji and Wenjing Shi shared The MPW Prize
for the best performance by a lower-sixth student.
Kishen
gained grades AAAA in AS level Biology, Chemistry,
Psychology and Religious Studies, including maximum
scores in all of his Religious Studies and Psychology units.
Wenjing gained grade A in A level Maths and grades
AAA in AS level Further Maths, Physics, Art and Further
Maths, including maximum scores in three Maths units.
Mary Manners won The MPW Prize for the best
performance at GCSE. Mary took nine subjects over one
year achieving grades A*A*A*A*A*AAAB.
Danielle Rahme and Xie Min Gao
shared The MPW Art Prize.
Danielle achieved grades AA in A level Art and Photography and
won a place to read Art Foundation at Camberwell College of Arts.
Xie Min achieved grades AA in A level Art and Photography and
won a place to read Art Foundation at Central St Martin’s College
of Art and Design.
Nnamdi Emelifeonwu won a commendation from the
Edexcel examining board for one of the top 10 results in
the national entry for A level Government and Politics.
