High Achievers

Our aim at MPW is to support all students to achieve their best. In addition, those students with special talents and those who are considered gifted and talented receive special support. Students can expect to be stretched and challenged in individual subject specialisms where they have real gifts. Each department offers a programme of activities and visits which have as their aim to widen the experience in a particular subject and to open up new worlds of understanding beyond the confines of the A level or GCSE specifications.

Those who have talents in sport, music or drama can be involved in the wide-ranging extra curricular programme, details of which are discussed at interview.

A number of students achieve distinction as individuals or in groups in a range of activities. Two gold medals were gained in the 2007 UK Mathematics Challenge. Students have won prizes or awards for high positions nationally at A level. Outside the academic area, success was achieved in an international music award for voice and a record was made in circumnavigating the British Isles, raising money for a cancer charity.
