Directors of Studies
Markus Bernhardt read Physics at the University of Bonn where he also completed a PhD in Theoretical
Particle Physics. He subsequently worked as a commercial researcher and ran a national science outreach programme
for secondary school pupils before joining MPW as a Director of Studies in 2009.
Mary Cooper
read French and German and obtained her PGCE at the University of
Reading. She joined MPW in 2001 to teach French and German and was appointed as a Director of Studies in 2003. She
is the college's Specific Learning Difficulties Coordinator and Examinations Officer.
John Cooter
read Zoology and Physiology at Cardiff University and then worked in the
music industry for a number of years. Subsequently, he gained a first-class
honours degree in Psychology from the Open University and a Masters degree
in Occupational Psychology from Birkbeck College, London.
He has taught Psychology at MPW since 2006 and was appointed as a Director of Studies in 2008.
David Shah obtained a first-class honours degree in History and completed his PhD
at the University of Leeds. He worked extensively in the English Second
Language sector in Italy and Britain before
moving into independent sixth-form education in Cambridge. He joined MPW
Cambridge as a Director of Studies in 2007.
