MPW Cambridge Open Day
Tuesday 27th May 2008, 10am - 6pm
MPW Cambridge has long been justly proud of the
exam results attained by its GCSE
and A-level students. For example, British Accreditation Council audited
A-level results for
2007 showed 55% A grades, 83% A-B grades and 98% A-E grades. Similarly,
audited GCSE results for
2007 were 86% A-C pass grades.
However, behind such results lie two important facts. Often, the very
students who achieve such successful exam and subsequent higher
education outcomes join MPW Cambridge with comparably weaker academic
track records. That these students then achieve their true potential is
largely due to the College's positive ethos and personalised
organisation, which combines early screening for weaknesses, small class
sizes, individual learning plans and close monitoring of performance by
personal tutors through weekly tests. The College's recent
Ofsted Inspection Report adds
that "Students feel valued and this makes an important contribution to
their academic and personal development."
In order to give prospective students and their parents a better insight
into the College, the MPW Cambridge Open Day differs from the norm in
that it takes place on a typical working day. In this way students will
not only be shown around the working College, but they will also be able
to sit in on potentially relevant lessons and meet with tutors of
subjects they may later opt for, for example, when progressing from GCSE
to A-level studies or transferring into our Year 13. In addition, the
MPW team of senior staff members will be ready to offer guidance and
support to those students who are still unsure of their academic
progression.
The Summer Term 2008 Open Day will be on Tuesday 27th May 2008, 10am - 6pm.
