BAC Inspection
The college is also subject to regular inspection by the British Accreditation Council.
Mander Portman Woodward Birmingham was first accredited by BAC in 1986. It was most recently re-inspected
in February 2002.
BAC's inspectors reported that there was a good or excellent standard of provision in all of the areas
assessed. They considered that the College benefited from an unusually effective management team and a well
qualified and committed staff with shared values and educational aims. The teaching was rigorous but based
on very full student involvement. An intensive but wide academic programme was delivered with great success.
Since 2002, there has been a top-up inspection plus two interim inspections, the most recent of which
in February 2010 continued our accreditation. The BAC inspector “welcomed the positive account of developments
since the last inspection” and reported that "the College continues to provide a very effective service to
its students, has a strong and well-defined management structure and has enhanced the high standards observed
at the last inspection".
BAC is the inspecting and accrediting body for independent sixth-form colleges.
The Inspectors' summary is made available to the public and is reprinted above.
